Cobra Legal Solutions CEO delivers the UA Little Rock commencement address.
Candice Hunter Corby, President and CEO of Cobra Legal Solutions, LLC, delivered the commencement address of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to more than 9,000 graduating students on May 13, 2017 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
A 1994 graduate of UA Little Rock and the 2017 UA Little Rock Distinguished Alumna Award winner, Candice Hunter Corby told the newest graduates of UA Little Rock to be true to themselves saying "My advice to you, be authentic." Corby then went on encouraging the graduates to aspire to continually strive to be better saying "Every day do something to propel yourself toward the person that you want to be."
Chosen as one of the top 10 female CEOs in the country by dotCEO in 2016 and recognized by the Austin Business Journal as a 2015 Profiles in Power - Women of Influence in Central Texas finalist, Corby spoke from experience as she gave advice to the graduates.
She shared the reality of the authenticity of her own company when she revealed that Cobra Legal Solutions holds the distinction of being ninety nine percent diverse in that it employs only two white males worldwide. She went on to share that the employees of Cobra Legal Solutions are eighty percent female, including two board members, the president and CEO, the COO and the senior most attorney. A fact that drew applause from the audience.
In further career advice, Corby told the graduates to listen to others saying "Really listen. Ideas matter even if they are ones that you do not agree with. Everyone wants to be heard."
